A Thursday afternoon crash in downtown Kingsport sent one vehicle — which contained two children — onto its roof, but injury was avoided.
The wreck occurred at approximately 1:50 p.m. at the intersection of West Center Street and Clay Street. Kingsport Police Officer Matt Stewart said a Pontiac Montana, westbound on Center, was attempting to make a left turn onto Clay. It reportedly pulled into the path of a Chevrolet Cavalier traveling east on Center.
The ensuing collision rolled the Pontiac, forcing police to temporarily close a small portion of West Center Street for cleanup. Stewart said the driver, who was not injured, would be cited for failure to yield. Her passengers, two children, and the driver of the Chevrolet were also unhurt.
