The Pennington Gap Town Council Monday afternoon voted unanimously to fire Police Chief Brian Young. Young had been suspended since Friday when he was arrested by special agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives on felony drug and gun charges.
The council also voted to appoint an officer in charge and to advertise for a new police chief. The officer in charge is Lt. Louis Mavredes, an investigator with the department.
