COEBURN — The Coeburn Police Deptartment on Thursday seized a "large amount" of synthetic marijuana during a search warrant-backed raid on a town business.
Interim Coeburn Police Chief Cossie Hale Jr. said police also seized a firearm, about $1,500 in cash and narcotics smoking devices as well as a small amount of marijuana at Get-It-Gone, a consignment shop at 213 Front Street.
The investigation continues and charges are pending, Hale said. He said the shop is owned by 44-year old Anthony Freeman.
Authorities sought the warrant following up on complaints by citizens of their children allegedly "going in there and purchasing narcotics," Hale said. Coeburn has adopted an ordinance banning synthetic drugs and the products seized violate state code as well, he said.
