A Jonesborough man was charged with attempted murder and other offenses after allegedly breaking into a Chuckey man’s home then shooting him twice with a shotgun.
According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, sometime between 11:30 p.m. Wednesday and 12:15 a.m. Thursday, Freddie Mitchell Lewis, aka Rooster, 33, 612 Old State Route 34, Jonesborough, is suspected of breaking into the home of Reed Allen Baker, 43, 342 Stockton Road, Chuckey, and assaulting him with a club. Baker fended off the assault and Lewis left.
Around 12:30 a.m. Baker was in the driveway of 174 Mae McKee Road, where a friend lived. Lewis pulled up to this house in a truck, got out and shot Baker in the head with a shotgun, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
