Tree falls on truck traveling Hawkins County road

Sept. 18

A Weaver Pike resident called police when her juvenile daughter and son began to argue over a computer. At one point the girl allegedly held a knife to her brother's stomach and threatened, "I'll kill you." They wrestled the weapon away from the girl, who was released to her father. A juvenile court date was set on charges of aggravated assault.

Hawkins County Sheriff's Office

Sept. 14

Police were called to Clinch School in Sneedville, a K-12 facility, due to a couple of teenaged girls fighting in the cafeteria. School staff reported "several teachers" had to break up the incident, which included "especially abusive and offensive language" in front of kindergartners.

Sept. 18

A Church Hill man told police he was driving Tranbarger Road when a tree fell and struck the right side of Chevrolet Venture. An officer went to the alleged incident location and found a tree across the road, estimating in his report that the vehicle suffered $1,000 in damage.

Sept. 19

An officer patrolling Mountain Valley Road at 12:30 a.m. observed an ATV traveling on the roadway with no working lights. The rider was stopped, admitted to drinking several beers, failed field sobriety tests and was arrested.
