A two-vehicle collision in Sullivan County killed one driver Monday evening, with police saying both alcohol and the speed of her car may have contributed to the crash.

The victim reportedly struck an oncoming SUV occupied by a woman and her son, age 5, each of whom was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injures.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Carden Hollow Road in Bristol, Tenn. The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office reports a Chevrolet Cavalier driver by Jennifer Ann Foster, 38, exited the right side of the roadway and overcorrected, sliding into the path of an oncoming Mitsubishi Montero.

The driver of the Montero and her son were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and later released. Foster was also transported to the hospital and later died.

Police say an investigation into the crash is continuing, with both alcohol and the speed of Foster's car being considered as factors. Her last known address is listed as being in Johnson City.
