Sullivan constable wins by one vote

BLOUNTVILLE — One vote made the difference in a contested race for constable in Sullivan County Thursday, according to unofficial results.

One of the winners in the six-way District 4 race for three positions was decided by one vote. Voters could choose three candidates, and the top three vote getters won. The top three finishers were Jerry Fleenor with 631, Gary Boyd with 568 and Kelly Crosswhite with 572. The fourth-place finisher was Mark Jones with 571, followed by Douglas Cross with 517 and Allen “Bull” Durham with 463.

In uncontested races in Thursday’s Sullivan County general election, unopposed Assessor of Property Bob Icenhour and District Attorney Barry Staubus won with 10,639 and 10,688 votes, respectively. The unofficial tallies indicated a turnout of 13,586.
