A traffic stop performed by the Kingsport police SWAT team, followed by the execution of a search warrant at a drug suspect's home, has prompted a felony arrest and alleged seizure of $2,400 in crack cocaine.
Antwaun "Kitchen" Hendricks, 40, was apprehended shortly after 9 a.m. on Lynn Garden Drive. Kingsport Police Department Vice Det. Nathan Elliott says approximately 8 SWAT members descended on Hendricks' vehicle near Tranbarger Drive, ensuring officer safety during the subsequent execution of a search warrant.
With Hendricks in tow officers went to his nearby residence, 1524 Roanoke Hill. Elliott says the search discovered approximately 24 grams of crack cocaine and a small amount of marijuana. Police also confiscated approximately $850 believed to be the proceeds of illegal drug sales.
Hendricks was arrested and charged with maintaining a dwelling where drugs are stored, sold or used, possession of more than a half gram of cocaine for resale within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia and simple possession of marijuana.
Police say that during the initial stop of Hendricks' vehicle a passegner, Dwayne Fields, 34, of Bronx, N.Y., was found to be in possession of marijuana. He was arrested and charged with simple possession.
