ROGERSVILLE — A Hawkins County couple accused of beating a Mooresburg woman and stealing her shoes and cell phone will be arraigned Wednesday on one count each of robbery and aggravated burglary.
Hawkins County Sheriff Ronnie Lawson said the motive for the incident is alleged to be collection of a drug debt.
On March 2, the alleged victim, June Pellinen, told the HCSO she had been beaten and robbed in her home at 331 Isenburg Lane in Mooresburg by Ezihia Ethanual “Easy” Isom, 35, and Nicole Danielle Isom, 32, both of 145 Murphy Road, Bulls Gap.
Pellinen stated that on March 2 she answered a knock at the door, at which time Mr. and Mrs. Isom pushed their way into the home.
According to a report filed by HCSO Detective Marc Bass, Mrs. Isom had stayed at that residence for a couple of weeks in October of 2012.
“Nicole began to scream at her (Pellinen) that she wanted her personal belongings that she left there, as well as money Ms. Pellinen’s boyfriend owed her (Mrs. Isom) for Roxycontin pills she gave him,” Bass said.
Pellinen told Bass she tried to explain to Mr. and Mrs. Isom she didn’t have her belongings, nor did she know anything about a drug debt.
“Ms. Pellinen stated that Nicole then swung at her with her fist, hitting her in the face,” Bass said. “Easy held her (Pellinen) down on the bed while Nicole hit her in the forehead and face with her elbow several times.”
Pellinen then reportedly bit Mrs. Isom’s arm to make her stop hitting her.
Mrs. Isom allegedly stated she would kill Pellinen if she didn’t get her belongings back.
After allegedly refusing to leave for a period of time, Mr. and Mrs. Isom allegedly took Pellinen’s Nike shoes and cell phone and left the residence.
Pellinen’s boyfriend and another witness gave statements that Mr. and Mrs. Isom had called them and admitted to taking the shoes and cell phone.
The couple were arrested at their Bulls Gap home on Thursday.
Ezihia Isom was released from the Hawkins County jail on $100,000 bond, and Nicole Isom was released on $75,000 bond.
