ROGERSVILLE — The Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help from the community to identify the person or persons who ransacked the Cherokee Restaurant over the weekend.
The Cherokee Restaurant, 2928 Route 66, is located across the highway from Cherokee High School just south of Rogersville.
Rebecca Poindexter told the HCSO that she arrived to open the restaurant around 4:35 a.m. Sunday and found that a window in the back of the building had been broken out.
Responding Deputy Michael Lipe stated in his report that the inside of the building had been vandalized.
He said water lines had been pulled down and water was running from the ceiling all over the floor.
Milk was poured all over the floor and freezers were opened to ruin food.
The burglary and vandalism took place sometime between closing time at 9 p.m. Saturday night and Poindexter’s arrival Sunday morning.
The value of the damage was unknown as of Monday.
Poindexter told the Times-News the restaurant was open for business again Monday morning.
The HCSO Detectives Division is investigating the Cherokee Restaurant burglary and vandalism.
Anyone with information is asked to call the HCSO at (423) 272-4848.
