A man who showed up at the Johnson City Police Department's office Wednesday with a gunshot wound in his leg allegedly had threatened an East Millard Street man with a knife, prompting the shooting, according to a police report.
Gregory Thomas Smith, 48, no address available, was driven to the JCPD's station on East Main Street, where he reported the shooting to a patrol officer about 9:15 p.m. Smith was taken to Johnson City Medical Center for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.
Police went to 1407 E. Millard St. and spoke with resident Jerry R. Crum, 42, who said Smith had been to his house asking him about the whereabouts of another person, police said in the report.
