KINGSPORT — A Kingsport man was charged with attempted murder Saturday, according to a statement released by the Kingsport Police Department.
Christopher Tyler Wright, 21, 1022 Glenburn Road, Lot 23, was charged after allegedly firing a rifle at a man in front of a residence on Dorothy Street.
Police said Wright was involved in an argument with the man on Dorothy Street and they both pulled knives on each other. Wright told the man, “I’m going to get a gun and I’m going to kill you” and left on foot, according to police.
A short time later, Wright returned to the Dorothy Street residence and pointed a black rifle at the other man and told him he was going to kill him, police said.
The alleged victim told the suspect there were children in the residence and he would come outside. The alleged victim walked into the roadway away from the residence, and the suspect shot at the victim four or five times, police said.
Two spent .22-caliber rounds and one live .22-caliber round were located at the scene. One bullet was located in the side of a residence on Dorothy Street, where it had gone through the siding and into the insulation, according to the police statement.
Wright was arrested, charged with attempted murder and transported to the Kingsport City Jail.
