PENNINGTON GAP — A Pennington Gap man was arrested Thursday afternoon by Lee County authorities for allegedly shooting another man inside his home.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said Michael Zane Dennison, 42, 230 Redwood Ave., Pennington Gap, was arrested on charges of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm after being declared a felon, maliciously shooting into an occupied dwelling and attempted malicious wounding as a result of the alleged incident.
The name of the shooting victim, and his condition, were not immediately released by authorities.
According to reports from law enforcement, sheriff’s deputies and an officer with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Dennison’s address at about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday after receiving a report of a possible shooting inside the residence. Dennison was reportedly arrested at the scene.
Investigators also took statements from witnesses and collected evidence from the alleged shooting site, Lee County Sheriff Gary Parsons said.
Authorities did not elaborate on a possible motive behind the shooting.
Dennison is currently being held without bond in the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Duffield.
