A Blountville man faces charges of abusing and neglecting his mother, 86, as well as using her money for purposes other than her care.
Jimmy Roger Brown, 65, of 226 Delph Private Drive, was indicted Tuesday by a Sullivan County grand jury. He's charged willful abuse, neglect or exploitation of an adult.
The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office reports they were contacted a few months ago about the case by Adult Protective Services. An investigation was launched, allegedly finding that the woman was suffering from malnutrition and dehydration. Brown also allegedly misused his mother's money and failed to give her medication.
Brown was arrested Wednesday and has been released after posting $20,000 bond.
