Man allegedly head-butts Sullivan County deputy

Dec. 3

Deputies were dispatched to a domestic assault on Shipley Ferry Road, finding the suspect "hiding under the back deck" of an apartment. After refusing to come out and having to be forcibly removed, he reportedly continued to resist, using the back of his skull to head-butt a deputy's face. During transport to jail he allegedly apologized for the incident, offering, "When I drink I'm a dumbass."

Dec. 4

Police responded to a report of a Plymouth Voyager wrecking on Reservoir Road, finding the vehicle leaving the scene while emitting smoke. When a stop was conducted both occupants allegedly exited and ran, with only the driver apprehended. He was arrested after admitting to drinking 24 beers.

Dec. 3

Police responded to a disturbance at a West Sullivan Street bar. A woman, 42, allegedly admitted to arguing with the bartender over, "a bottle of liquor she was drinking." Witnesses told police that she had actually cursed the manager and, "thrown a drink at him." After stating she had drank too much to be in public, and had no way home, she was arrested for public intoxication.

Hawkins County Sheriff's Office

Nov. 28

Two TVs, a Playstation, computer, $200 in groceries and other items were reported stolen from a county home. The theft had allegedly occurred sometime since Nov. 12 — when the residence was quarantined following the discovery of a meth lab.

Nov. 29

A female called police to report she had just struck a mailbox while driving Main Street in Surgoinsville — while intoxicated — and she wished to turn herself in. A deputy responded to her location where she performed poorly on field sobriety tests. She was arrested on charges of DUI and leaving the scene of an accident.

Dec. 2

A Widow Hollow Road resident contacted police due to vandalism of their outside Christmas decorations. Light bulbs were reportedly taken out of three set of lights, with pliers then used to, "crush the connections for all the light bulbs."

Dec. 4

An officer observed a Ford Taurus traveling Carters Valley Road while, "dragging a mailbox." During a traffic stop the driver stated he was aware he had struck a mailbox and would, "take care of it tomorrow." A pat down located a pill bottle — which he said had been prescribed after being released from the hospital that day — and he admitted to taking two Lortabs 90 minutes prior. He was arrested for DUI, leaving the scene of an accident and other charges.
