For nearly three years the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office has been auctioning off property to the public at GovDeals.com — but has yet to list anything quite like the current offerings.
Through Dec. 19, bids are being accepted on two mobile homes. They were seized last November in Bluff City following an SCSO Vice Unit bust of indoor marijuana growing operations.
One residence is a two-bedroom 1993 Glen mobile home, 16 feet by 80 feet, with dishwasher, stove and heat pump. As of Wednesday afternoon, 12 bids had been received over GovDeals.com, with a current high of $1,250.
The other model is a two-bedroom 1986 Connell, 76 feet by 14 feet, equipped with dishwasher, stove, refrigerator and heat pump. It had only received one bid of $750.
To bid on either of the mobile homes, visit GovDeals.com and type Sullivan County in the keyword search. Several photos of each residence are available on the Web site, but the SCSO suggests scheduling an appointment for inspection prior to placing an offer.
The online auction proceeds will be returned to the SCSO vice and narcotics division, helping support their investigations of drug crimes in the county. Past offerings from the SCSO have included vehicles, motorcycles and electronics, with the stock rotating often.
Several area police departments and other government agencies use Govdeals.com to solicit bids on a variety of items, from lawn equipment and paddle boats to used patrol cruisers and printers.
