NICKELSVILLE — A construction worker was severely injured Tuesday morning after he fell off a bridge near Nickelsville.
The Virginia Department of Transportation said the man was working on the Copper Creek Bridge on Highway 71 west of Nickelsville when he fell nearly 150 feet onto an embankment.
The man, whose name was not released, reportedly suffered several broken bones and other severe injuries as a result of the incident, which reportedly happened around 11 a.m.
He was airlifted by Med-Flight to Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport for treatment.
VDOT officials did not say what exactly led to the man's fall.
