Wise County Sheriff's Office
Oct. 16
A man in Wise — who assured he wasn't drunk, "it's not even 5 o'clock"— advised there's, "a silver object floating in the sky." He called dispatch a second time to say it was still visible and he needed an officer to respond and see it. He hoped a witness would prove he's not intoxicated or crazy. Deputies respond to the caller's location and observed the object in the sky, which they were also unable to identify.
Oct. 19
A Big Stone Gap resident reported seeing his neighbor check her mailbox, get out of her vehicle and steal a Romney campaign sign from his yard. Upon arrival deputies recovered the sign and returned it to the rightful owner.
Sullivan County Sheriff's Office
Oct. 22
Juveniles were reportedly mooning cars on Mountain View Road, fleeing prior to police arrival.
Tri-Cities Airport advised "laser lights" a half mile west of Highway 394 and I-81 had, "affected a commercial aircraft."

Someone on Chadwell Road called police on an "unruly" 11-year-old girl.
Kingsport Police Department
Oct. 24
Former residents of Chadwick Drive reported several items as stolen while they were in the process of moving, including a moped and motorbike. Police located the motorbike at a residence on nearby Tranbarger Drive, with a woman saying her son had brought it home. While police were at the location the woman's son, 26, allegedly rode up on the stolen moped — and wearing clothes taken from the victim's former residence. Other items allegedly stolen — cameras, knives, sunglasses and a bandana — were also found in his possession. He was arrested.
Hawkins County Sheriff's Office
Oct. 22
An officer located a man "staggering down" North Main Street in Bulls Gap. After stating he was attempting to walk home after drinking three 24-ounce beers he was arrested, "for his own safety."
Oct. 23
A Bulls Gap woman, 65, told police she was drinking beer with her grandson when an argument erupted over, "family issues." She said her grandson, 28, became more and more angry, eventually pushing her off the front porch. The alleged victim suffered a broken wrist in the incident while a warrant was issued for the man's arrest.
