ELIZABETHTON — Investigators are continuing to investigate a Thursday evening accident on U.S. Highway 19E in Valley Forge in which two children were killed and the four survivors were transported to the Johnson City Medical Center, some by helicopter ambulance.
The two children who were killed in the crash were identified as Jonathan Nye, 7; and Dalton Moffitt, 2, both of Elizabethton. One of the children was ejected from the car during the collision.
The boys were riding in a southbound 1995 Ford Taurus which Trooper Edward Tester of the Tennessee Highway Patrol said went out of control, crossed the median and into the northbound lanes, ending in a collision with a northbound 2004 Chevrolet van.
