KINGSPORT — The Tri-Cities Women’s Expo returns for the 15th year this weekend at Kingsport’s MeadowView Conference Resort and Convention Center. This year’s theme is “More of What Women Want.”
The Johnson City Press and Kingsport Times-News Women’s Expo 2012 will showcase practically everything women want — fashion, fragrance, jewelry, cosmetics, furniture, home décor and products for the home.
Women’s Expo 2012 will also feature things that women love. The popular Ambush Makeovers are back. To be eligible for one of these makeovers, ladies should be in line 15 minutes before the doors open on Saturday and Sunday, wearing pink and with a sign that reads “Ambush Me!” One individual will be chosen for a makeover Saturday and Sunday.
Also back in 2012, the first 100 attendees in line with a paid ticket will be entered for a chance to win $100 in cash. You must be present to win, and the drawing will be held Saturday at 10:50 a.m. and Sunday at 1:50 p.m. from the Zak’s Fine Furniture Main Stage.
Business coach Natalie R. Manor will be on stage Saturday presenting “Get Back On Track — You Know You Want To!” After her presentation, Manor will be hosting a one-on-one seminar from her booth. Seating is limited. Call Sheila Pless at 723-1487 to reserve a seat.
Women’s health will be another important focus at this year’s event, with a stage presentation of “The Doctor Is In.” Attendees will have an opportunity to ask health questions in a Q&A session. Holston Medical Group will offer balance screenings, Holston Valley Medical Center will be offering free health screenings and healthy living advice throughout the weekend, and Marcum’s Pharmacy will provide flu shots for $20.
Other traditional favorites include cooking on Saturday with Chef Anna, and fashion shows Saturday and Sunday from Belk of Kingsport and Threads.
On Saturday, the Women’s Expo will offer free child care staffed by Yaya-Raha Learning Center for expo attendees on a first-come, first-served basis for ages 2 to 10 as space permits. Guardians must provide a photo ID, cell phone number and snacks if desired. Strollers are welcome at the event.
And on Sunday, one lucky couple will be the winner of the $25,000 Dream Wedding.
Advance tickets are on sale for $5 at Ben Franklin Crafts in Kingsport, the Kingsport Times-News and the Herald & Tribune in Jonesborough. Tickets at the door are $7. A special $8 ticket is required for Sunday. Children 12 and younger are admitted free.
Show hours are Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m.
