Police have arrested three men in a weekend assault and robbery of a 15-year-old at South Holston Lake.
The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office reports the incident occurred Saturday evening near the Highway 421 Bridge. the alleged victim was fishing when approached by three men who began talking to him.
Police say that the conversation ended and the juvenile began walking away. That's when one of the suspects reportedly called his name, the teen turned around and was punched in the face. They then allegedly pulled a knife and demanded his bag, which included a cell phone, asthma medication, watch and money.
SCSO Det. Randy Simpson investigated the case and identified the suspects as Kareem Tyriq Rose, 18, of 700 Wagner Road, apartment 5, Bristol, Va., Jeffrey Allen Berry, 19, of 16244 Mountain Spring Road, Abingdon, Va., and Skyler Emmanuel Shaffer, 19, of 21566 Limehill Road, Bristol, Va.
Warrants were issued charging the suspects with aggravated robbery and aggravated assault. Rose and Shaffer were located and arrested in Sullivan County, while Berry was located and arrested by the Washington County, Va., Sheriff’s Office. Berry is currently awaiting extradition to Sullivan County.
