A 56-year-old Kingsport resident has been arrested after allegedly stabbing another man in the abdomen following an argument.
Ronnie L. Boggs, of 3003 Bloomingdale Pike, apartment 2, is charged with aggravated assault in the late Monday night incident. Kingsport police records say officers were dispatched to 600 West Sullivan Street at 10:50 p.m., finding a 42-year-old man holding a towel on a stab wound to the left side of his stomach and chest.
Police were allegedly told the suspect, Boggs, had left walking towards the nearby IGA Supermarket. An affidavit filed in Kingsport court says police soon located Boggs in the store's parking lot with a pocket knife in his possession.
Back at the residence police were informed that Boggs had been drinking with the female resident and another man. At some point the woman called her brother, the alleged stabbing victim, asking that he bring more beer to the home.
When the man arrived he and Boggs allegedly began to argue, with Boggs told to leave. Boggs reportedly stepped outside the front door, according to records, then asked the victim to join him, "so he could talk to him."
A few minutes later the man came back inside the home with the wound, according to others present at the residence, saying he'd been stabbed by Boggs.
The victim was transported to Holston Valley Medical Center where he was interviewed by a KPD detective. The man was treated and later released, while Boggs was booked into the city jail.
