GREENEVILLE –– A Johnson City man was sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court for his involvement in drug trafficking ring in the city, a court news release said.
According to the release, Willie Steven Carter, 28, was sentenced as a career offender to 216 months for trying to distribute large amounts of crack cocaine in Johnson City. Carter’s two prior felony drug convictions were factors in his sentencing.
He and at least six others were involved with buying cocaine in Rome, Ga., and Knoxville, cooking the substance to make crack cocaine and selling it customers in areas of Johnson City, including Park Avenue and Oak Grove Road.
