A Kingsport man has been arrested after allegedly burglarizing a home and being caught in the act by one of the residents.
The Sullivan County Sheriff's Officer responded to a burglary at approximately 3:30 Wednesday morning on Ridge Road. One of the victims stated he heard someone walking up the stairway, went to investigate and located a man, "wearing a black hoodie with blue tape on one of his hands."
The suspect was reportedly chased from the scene, carrying small electronics, jewelry and cash from inside the home and car that was parked outside. Police believe he made entry through a basement door, which the residents said they had left unlocked.
A cell phone that did not belong to any of the victims was located at the scene. The victims stated that shortly after the incident they walked down the road searching for some of the stolen property, and were confronted by a man outside of 4020 Ridge Road.
He reportedly asked them what they were doing, then told them he had "found a bag" in the front yard. He then went inside the residence to retrieve it, producing their belongings.
Detectives responded to question the man, later identified as Kevin Lance Henry, 28, of 1921 Bowater Drive. It was determined the phone found at the victim's home belonged to Henry and he was arrested.
Henry was booked into the Sullivan County jail on charges of aggravated burglary, theft of more than $1,000 and auto burglary.
