The Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals has affirmed the conviction and sentencing of a Kingsport murderer.

In June of 2006 Michael D. Fields reportedly entered the Arbor Place garage apartment of Glen Thacker, 26, and Asiah Foster-Walton, 20.

Investigators believe the incident was drug-related, with Fields brutally beating the pair with a baseball bat and leaving them to die, making off with cocaine and pills.

In April of 2010 a Sullivan County jury found Fields guilty on two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree felony murder and two counts of especially aggravated robbery. He was sentenced to life without parole.

In his appeal of the trial and sentencing Fields cited more than 100 alleged factors: from prosecutorial misconduct and the judge's failure to recuse himself, to being outfitted with a stun belt and denial of his motions for a mistrial.

On Tuesday the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals said they have found no errors in their review of the trial and sentencing, thus the judgments are affirmed.

Shortly before the double-murder conviction Fields was sentenced to life in prison for the 2004 stabbing death of an Indiana woman at Kingsport’s Ballis Tourist Home. He has also appealed that judgement, with the state's court of appeals yet to offer an opinion.
