ROGERSVILLE — Hawkins County deputies seized drugs, cash, guns and several vehicles Thursday from a Rogersville man accused of trafficking large quantities of pills.
For several months, the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit has been investigating alleged drug trafficking by Walter Leon Trent, 53, 112 N. Charles St., Rogersville.
Deputies executed a search warrant Thursday at Trent’s home and allegedly seized an unspecified quantity of morphine and suboxone, for which he did not have a prescription.
Trent was also found to be in possession of approximately $1,700 in cash, which is alleged to be proceeds from illegal drug sales.
Sheriff Ronnie Lawson said Trent’s home and property were extensively equipped with video monitoring and recording devices, as well as motion sensors that sounded interior alarms when vehicles were approaching the home.
“Narcotics officers spent several hours dismantling and seizing all video surveillance equipment from the home and property,” Lawson said. “Mr. Trent was also found to be in possession of numerous firearms, which had been strategically placed throughout the home; and all firearms were seized as well.”
Deputies also seized eight vehicles and one Harley Davidson motorcycle, which were all believed to be purchased with illegal drug sale proceeds.
Trent was charged with possession of Schedule II narcotics with intent to deliver, possession of Schedule III narcotics with intent to deliver, possession of firearms during commission of a dangerous felony and maintaining a dwelling where narcotics are housed or sold.
He was released from the Hawkins County jail on $200,000 bond and will appear in court May 22.
Lawson said the case remains under investigation and further prosecutions are possible.
