KINGSPORT — Cycling enthusiasts Tony Williams, Brian Hicks and Ben Rasnick had a dream, and now they’re watching it come together next to the Greenbelt.

The three have opened Reedy Creek Bicycles in the Reedy Creek Terrace off Eastman Road.

Part of their business plan was to locate near the Greenbelt so they could rent bicycles to the public at $20 for a half day.

The city of Kingsport has committed to build a bridge from the shopping center’s lower parking lot to the Greenbelt so cyclists don’t have to use the Eastman Road bridge to get to the linear park stretching through Kingsport, according to Williams.

“That will be a benefit to the whole (Reedy Creek Terrace) complex,” he said.

The three co-owners, who are involved in the cycling community, run a full-service bike shop. Road, mountain, and dirt/street bikes are available.

“We are selling everything from kids’ bikes to $12,000 high-end racing bikes and everything in between,” Williams explained. “Our main brand is Specialized and our secondary brand is Norco.”

Specialized is known for supplying bikes to the North American and European professional cycling circuits. Norco, a Canadian-based company, emphasizes it designs about 40 models of bikes to give cyclists the best riding experience.

Reedy Creek Bicycles also sells helmets, equipment, apparel , gloves and other related products.

The shop is located at 1880 N. Eastman Road. The shop phone number is (423) 765-2770.
