Blotter: Missing marijuana leads to assault arrest

Kingsport Police Department

April 20

Police were called to Kroger on East Stone Drive, where employees had a shoplifter in custody. The woman reportedly drank a soda and placed the empty can by a cash register, then attempted to leave without paying for two pregnancy test kits. She was cited for theft and released.

At approximately 1 a.m. an Allen Drive resident found an unknown man drinking alcohol on her porch. She told police that when she confronted him he ran away.

A Kingsport man claimed to be hearing voices in his attic. He told dispatch that he suspected it was his girlfriend and her "new man" — but she's no longer there because he "run her off."

A caller claimed women were fighting in the parking lot of a Fairview Avenue market.

Sullivan County Sheriff's Office

April 18

A reckless motorist was reportedly driving through yards on Devault Bridge Road.

A visitor of Steele Creek Park reported a debit card had been stolen from their bag.

April 19

A Reservoir Road resident complained about a loud truck that's been "cruising" by his home for several hours. An officer responded but did not locate the vehicle.

Police were alerted to a pair of people riding a 4-wheeler. The caller suspected they had stolen a mattress — which may contain drugs — from the home of a currently jailed individual.

April 20

Police were advised of a Summerville Road resident mowing and weed-eating his yard shortly before 2 a.m.

A mailbox was reportedly stolen from Johnson Chapel Road.

A man drinking moonshine on Brookfield Lane, according to a 911 caller, has, "fell and busted his head again." EMS responded to the scene.

April 21

A man on Bristol Caverns Highway told police his girlfriend was on the way to his location, adding that she'd "cause problems" when she arrived.

April 18

A Rogersville man said he was asleep from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m., at which time medication and cash was stolen from under his bed. Two suspects he named were interviewed by police, telling officers that the alleged victim was intoxicated when he went to sleep; they have no idea what happened to his meds and money,

April 20

Police responded to a Bulls Gap apartment after a man claimed to have been attacked by his girlfriend. He said he didn't know why she scratched his arms and face, while she told police the argument began over marijuana. He accused her of hiding his pot, according to her statements, but she had nothing to do with its disappearance. Injuries observed on the man prompted her arrest for domestic assault.
