MOORESBURG — The Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office and members of the Hawkins County Humane Society and Treadway Equine Animal Rescue Sanctuary (TEARS) responded to a Mooresburg residence just off of Route 31 Sunday on a complaint of a large number and variety of neglected animals in need of rescue.
Among the animals reported by rescuers are two horses, a pony, a donkey, as well as rabbits and goats, nine roosters and nine dogs.
One representative of the Humane Society told the Times-News Sunday it is among the worst cases of animal neglect she has ever witnessed.
The Times-News will follow the Mooresburg investigation as more information becomes available.
