The execution of a search warrant has allegedly located marijuana and records of drug transactions at a Kingsport home, where officers also seized 10 firearms due to the felony nature of the discoveries.

Kingsport police records say the warrant was served at 628 Fairview Ave. The resident, Christopher Dougherty, 28, was present when officers arrived shortly after 1 a.m. Monday.

KPD Vice Det. Nathan Elliott says police had received anonymous tips regarding drug transactions at the residence. Approximately an ounce of marijuana, scales and baggies were allegedly seized during the police search, along with eight rifles and two handguns.

Elliott said the search warrant also authorized the review of Dougherty's cell phone, which was allegedly found to contain text messages referencing drug transactions.

Dougherty was arrested at the scene and charged with possession of more than a half ounce of marijuana for resale, maintaining a dwelling where drugs are sold, stores or used, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of firearms in the commission of a felony.

He was booked into the city jail and arraigned Monday morning in Kingsport court. Dougherty was then transferred to the Sullivan County jail in Blountville where he posted $6,000 bond and was released.
