Blotter: Burglary suspect offers 'looking for candy' defense

Wise County Sheriff's Department

March 26

A caller to central dispatch wanted to speak to the Sheriff about, "the secret planes that Obama had in the air that were watching our every move." When told the Sheriff wasn't available, but an officer could call him back, the man declined. He said he'd just, "call back tomorrow."

Kingsport Police Department

March 25

A Jessee Street resident called police on "someone throwing something" at her backdoor. She said it had been going on approximately 30 minutes.

March 27

A caller claimed a vehicle was "all over to road" on North Eastman, with a male inside, "jumping up and down in the seat."

Sullivan County Sheriff's Office

March 25

Three juveniles were allegedly "throwing things at cars" near a church on Buffalo Road.

A drunk motorist reportedly backed into several mailboxes on Devault Bridge Road, then passed out behind the wheel with the engine running.

March 26

A 911 caller reported a dispute on Emmett Way. She said her, "sister-in-law's son's friend" was outside "running his mouth" about a dog cage.

An individual at a shopping center in Piney Flats alerted police to a child inside a car, wearing no pants. The caller claimed he was "shaking his private" at passing motorists.

March 27

A county woman reported receiving a phone call from her daughter at a dormitory. The daughter allegedly relayed that a staff member was "encouraging" people to fight.

A man was looking in the windows of a home off Wilcox Drive, but "took off running into the woods" when a male resident stepped outside.

A woman claimed to have ran into an ex-neighbor while inside a market on Highway 75. She said he cursed at her as she bought two candy bars, then fled in a van.

Hawkins County Sheriff's Office

March 25

A county woman reported her son was abused by a former babysitter, who locked him in the closet and allowed people to spank him.

March 26

Deputies responded to a report of burglary at a Rogersville residence. The victim claimed to have stepped outside and then reentered, finding that a neighbor was snooping through his closet. When asked what he was doing the neighbor allegedly claimed, "looking for some candy." The suspect was gone upon police arrival, while the resident didn't buy the searching for sweets excuse.

A Bulls Gap woman claimed that an ex-boyfriend and his new love interest continually drive by her home. She said they also call and send texts, threatening to, "stab her and watch her bleed out."

March 26

A Rogersville man returned home to find someone had made entry by busting out a window. He then displayed an alleged text to police from his estranged wife, in which she threatened to, "break the window out."

March 27

An Eidson man reported several incidents of phone harassment, with the unknown caller threatening to burn his property, sexually abuse his wife and kill his dog.
