Two charged in Bristol meth lab bust

BRISTOL, Tenn. — Two people were arrested on drug charges Monday night after Bristol police officers discovered a meth lab in operation.

According to a news release, the Street Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at 115 Esther St. Inside the residence, officers located a “substantial clandestine methamphetamine lab.”

The dwelling’s occupants, Jerry Keith Ledford, 52, and Penny Darlene Willhite, 42, were arrested and charged with: initiation of a process intended to produce methamphetamine; possession of Schedules II and III drugs with intent to distribute; simple possession of a Schedule VI drug; drug paraphernalia; and maintaining a dwelling where drugs are manufactured, stored, and/or sold. Both Ledford and Willhite were transported to the Sullivan County Jail.

Assisting agencies were the Bristol Tennessee Fire Department, 2nd Judicial District Drug Task Force, and The Tennessee Meth Task Force.
