A winter weather advisory is in effect through 6 p.m. Monday for much of Northeast Tennessee and Southeast Tennessee as a springtime snow storm moves into the region.
The National Weather Service in Morristown said snowfall accumulations are expected through Tuesday afternoon.
Forecasters said the scattered snow storms could lead to between 1 to 4-inches of snow in lower elevations Southern Appalachian mountains, while elevations above 2,500 are expected to receive anywhere from 4 to 8-inches.
Elevations above 4,000 feet could see as much a foot of snow by Tuesday afternoon.
The adverse weather, combined with strong northwest winds, could negatively impact travel conditions Monday and Tuesday.
Forecasters also issued a minor wind advisory through 8 p.m. Monday due to westerly winds between 20 and 30 mph and gusts up to 50 mph.
