BLOUNTVILLE — Sullivan County Director of Schools Jubal Yennie will recommend one of three school closing/rezoning scenarios to the county Board of Education at a work session 7 p.m. Thursday.
The event has been moved from the central office to the Wellmont Center for the Performing Arts at Northeast State Technical Community College near Tri-Cities Regional Airport.
Yennie Tuesday said after his recommendation, the board will ask him questions about it and then public comment will be taken. He said he will recommend one of three previously announced scenarios:
- Closing middle schools in the South High School zone and putting sixth-graders in elementary schools and seventh- and eighth-graders at South High.
- Merging South and North high schools into one building and having a consolidated middle school in the other.
- Merging Central High zone middle schools into Holston Middle and closing Central Heights Elementary.
