Kingsport City Schools Proposed Textbooks Announced

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Kingsport City Schools elementary reading textbook committee has recommended the Benchmark Literacy materials to the Kingsport Board of Education for adoption by the school system.

The recommended textbooks will be on display March 11 – 15, 2013 located at Kingsport City Schools Administrative Support Center, 400 Clinchfield Street, Ste. 200, 2nd Floor, downtown, Kingsport from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The following textbook series will be displayed: "Benchmark Literacy K-6 Whole and Small Group with Resources" by Benchmark Education Company.

Final textbook recommendations will be made to the Kingsport Board of Education in March. The school board must approve the textbooks by vote at both the March and April meetings, as the final adoption(s) of school system textbooks is due in Nashville by mid-April.

Kingsport City Schools is a public school system located in Kingsport, Tenn., serving students in Sullivan and Hawkins county. The district is comprised of 13 schools, including a Pre-K, eight elementary schools, two middle schools, one high school and an alternative school; with total enrollment reaching 6,500 students.
