KINGSPORT — Kingsport police are searching for an unidentified white male who they say robbed a local pharmacy Sunday for the painkiller OxyContin.

According to the Kingport Police Department, the incident occurred at 12:30 p.m. at CVS Pharmacy located at 5215 Memorial Blvd.

Authorities said the suspect seen on surveillance footage appeared to be a white male in his 50s who was of average build and approximately 6 feet tall.

The suspect reportedly entered the store wearing a green ballcap with a yellow insignia, mirrored sunglasses, a white T-shirt, a gray zip-up sweat jacket, red and black pajama pants and tan slippers. The hair that could be seen under his hat was gray and he had a small patch of hair on his chin, authorities said.

KPD Det. Terry Christian said the man approached the store's pharmacy counter with his hands in his jacket pockets and told the pharmacist that he had a gun before demanding OxyContin.

The suspect reportedly left the pharmacy with an undisclosed amount of OxyContin.

Although KPD officers responded to the area immediately, the suspect was not located.

Anyone with information on the robbery or suspect is asked to contact the Kingsport Police Department at (423) 229-9429 or (423) 246-9111.
