JOHNSON CITY — A Sunday afternoon apartment fire spread to an attic shared by three others, leaving four Johnson City residents displaced, according to a Johnson City Fire Department news release.
The fire at 534 Crest Court was reported around 2:20 p.m., and a Johnson City policeman on routine patrol was the first to respond. Sgt. Mitch Perry tried to put out the flames with a dry chemical extinguisher, but the fire was too large.
Firefighters arrived within five minutes, but about half the apartment was already on fire. The flames had extended to the shared attic.
