ELIZABETHTON — Eight beer permit owners in Elizabethton were accused of selling alcoholic beverages to minors during an undercover operation conducted Wednesday.

Capt. Joy Markland, director of the Elizabethton Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division, identified the permit owners as Amigo’s Mexican Restaurant, 623 W. Elk Ave., Suite B7; Beef O’Brady’s, 173 Hudson Drive; Lakeo Stakehouse of Japan, 139 Hudson Drive; Lone Star Steakhouse, 1361 U.S. Highway 19E; Roadrunner Market No. 168, 1258 Milligan Highway; Smokehouse Barbeque Company, 1941 Milligan Highway; Tobacco Depot, 348 Broad St.; and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2166, 1977 W. The police department used confidential operatives who were under age 21 to pose as customers and attempt to purchase alcohol. Through the investigation, eight individuals working at the establishments allowed the sales. They were immediately notified of the infraction and were issued a criminal summons for sale of alcohol to a minor. All are scheduled to appear in Carter County Sessions Court on Feb. 11.
