The fallout from a winter storm that blanketed the Tri-Cities with heavy snow continued Friday as Kingsport Dobyns-Bennett High School was forced to cancel athletic events.
According to Kingsport City Schools, all D-B basketball games versus Sullivan Central High School and all related homecoming activities will not take place Friday evening as originally scheduled.
The presentation of homecoming king and queen will take place at halftime of the D-B boys’ varsity basketball game against Volunteer on Jan. 29.
A rescheduled date for the Dobyns-Bennett vs. Central matchups has not been announced.
Also affected by the snow was D-B wrestling, which had its Friday matches cancelled, and Junior Clinic and Inaugural Parade Rehearsal, which were called off as well.
Full band rehearsal will now take place on Saturday from 10-11:45 a.m. if weather and road conditions permit it.
D-B’s Saturday basketball games against Morristown West will go ahead as scheduled, with girls varsity playing at 1 p.m. and the boys’ varsity team playing at 2:30 p.m.
The D-B Sparkle Squad performance has also been moved until Jan. 22, when the girls’ varsity basketball team faces Volunteer High School.
