ROGERSVILLE — Hawkins County deputies seized oxycodone, methadone and Xanax from a motorist allegedly making illegal pill deliveries last week at the Tennessee Valley Authority campground near Rogersville.

HCSO Narcotics Unit deputies were conducting an investigation Thursday night targeting possible illegal drug use at the TVA Campground located on Old Route 70 near the John Sevier Fossil Plant.

Sheriff Ronnie Lawson said that during the investigation deputies learned that a gold Chevy Trailblazer was on the premises of the campground, and the vehicle was occupied by individuals allegedly distributing controlled substances.

“Narcotics officers conducted surveillance on the TVA Campground and observed the described vehicle and occupants to be present,” Lawson said.

Lawson said narcotics officers made an approach on the persons in the Trailblazer, at which time the driver was identified as Roger Darrell Wilburn, 48, 328 Leonard St., Greeneville.

“While speaking with Mr. Wilburn, he admitted to being in possession of an assortment of controlled substance pills at which time he produced a plastic container from his pocket,” Lawson said. “The container was found to contain an assortment of oxycodone ‘roxy’ pills, metha- done pills, and Xanax pills. Mr. Wilburn was unable to produce a prescription for any of the pills.”

Wilburn was placed in custody and charged with two counts of possession of Schedule II narcotics with intent to deliver and one count of possession of Schedule IV narcotics with intent to deliver.

Lawson said all seized controlled substances have been sent to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for analysis.

Wilburn was released from the Hawkins County Jail on $10,000 bond and is scheduled for arraignment July 18.

Narcotics officers also identified Wilburn’s wife in the Trailblazer as Carolyn Ann Wilburn of the same address.

Mrs. Wilburn was allegedly found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. She was issued a citation for simple possession of marijuana and released.
