Police were requested at Indian Path Medical Center, where the family member of a patient was, "hitting walls and doors in the ER entrance."
Dec. 30
A man requested the presence of an officer while he gathered belongings from an Astor Street residence. He claimed to have previously been assaulted at the home by his former mother-in-law, who allegedly struck him in the neck with a 2 X 4.
Dec. 31
Police told a woman to stop requesting welfare checks for her granddaughter, as she was using the procedure as a way to harass her family.
Jan. 1
Central dispatch received six 911 calls from a 9-year-old boy on West Valley Drive. He allegedly screamed obscenities during the calls, boasted he had killed his parents and threatened to kill police. The boy's father was eventually reached by phone, with a dispatcher noting he, "seemed a little out of it, didn't seem too upset that his son keeps calling us." Later in the day an officer visited the residence. The boy then called dispatchers and apologized for his antics.
Kingsport Police
Dec. 29
Dispatch was advised of a shoplifter exiting an East Stone Drive convenience store, with an officer locating the suspect nearby. The man initially denied being in the store, then stated he had been, and kept attempting to reach into his pockets. After ignoring police orders to place his hands on a building a scuffle ensued, with the suspect taken to the ground and handcuffed. Three stolen candy bars and six stolen cigars were allegedly located in his pocket. He was arrested.
Jan. 2
Police were called to a disturbance at the Greyhound Station on Cherokee Street, learning a passenger refused to show her ID to ride the bus. The woman refused to exit the bus for police, forcing an officer to enter and arrest her for disorderly conduct.
Wise County Sheriff's Office
Dec. 25
A female in Appalachia advised dispatch that she is going through a break up with her boyfriend. She said they need someone to tell them who gets the apartment, as both their names are on the lease.

During a dispute over a basketball goal, several teenagers allegedly called a Big Stone Gap woman, "everything in the book"
Hawkins County Sheriff's Office
Jan. 1
The resident of a Bulls Gap apartment reported being attacked by his female roommate, after criticizing how she was speaking to her 9-year-old son. The male resident admitted he and the woman had been drinking, "pretty much all day," and that he only wanted a report on file so he could, "get her evicted." An officer transported the male to his father's residence so that, "both parties could sober up and discuss living arrangements at another time."
Jan. 2
On Goshen Valley Road police served two arrest warrants on a woman for violation of probation. An officer reports that upon being handcuffed she, "went to the ground kicking and screaming, stating that she was not going to jail and I needed to forget that I ever saw her." She was placed in the back of the cruiser and transported to jail.
